  Complex Roots

Use the numbered buttons to select an integer n betweeen 2 and 9.

Select a complex number z, marked by a cyan diamond and radius vector, by dragging the cursor or by grabbing the [angle] or [modulus] slider. The n nth roots are displayed in yellow, with green radial vectors. The unit circle is displayed in gray, and the circle through the nth roots is displayed in blue.

Use the [zoom] key to adjust the size of the graphing window.

To the right, the number z is read out. Below that, use the buttons to display a representation of the modulus of z and of its roots, or of the angle of z and of its prinicipal root, or of the values of the n nth roots, or none of these.
