The graphing window at top right accomodates displays the input steady state
solution of the differential equation mx" + bx' + kx = A sin(ω t)
and of other related functions including the input signal A sin(ω t) .
The time value is set using a slider under the window. The [>>] key starts an
animation. The [<<] key resets t to
t = 0 . Rolling the cursor over this
window creates crosshairs and a readout of the values of t and x.
The window at left represents the complex plane, and on it are displayed
the phasors corresponding to the graphs shown in the right window.
The given differential equation is the imaginary part of the complex valued
differential equation mz" + bz' + kz = A e i ù t . On this window are
displayed values of the complex input signal, the complex exponential solution
z , and of the three functions kz , bz' , and mz" .
The [Relate diagrams] key toggles faint lines connecting the point
on the imaginary plane with the corresponding point on the graph.
Buttons at bottom right control display of graphs of the input A sin(ω t),
the system response x , the three component functions kx , bx' ,
and mx" , and the corresponding phasors. Each button has three settings:
off, display phasor only, and display both phasor and graph.
