Harmonic Frequency Response: Variable Input Frequency

A menu at lower right offers a choice of functions f(u) of period 2π . A slider or [<], [>] keys select the value of the circular frequency ω.

The graphing window at left displays graphs of f(ω t) (in cyan) and of the steady state response of the harmonic oscillator with natural frequency 1 to this input signal (in yellow). Rolling the cursor over the graphing window produces crosshairs and a readout of the values of t and x.

Above the ω slider the graph of the root mean square magnitude of the system response is plotted as a function of ω. The currently chosen value of ω is indicated by a yellow line segment.

Roll the cursor over the RMS window to produce a readout of the value of the root mean square magnitude of the system response, and a horizontal yellow line relating that value to the graphing window.
